I was re-reading some old “end of the year review papers.”  (At my school you have a super crit. at the end of the year called a review and you need to have a min of 16 pieces, a paper, and 15 minutes of being torn apart by your teachers.)  And for my second year review I was ranting about the lack of classical training at the school, I was ripped apart for that.  I figure that if the teachers at there to help me learn why can’t I ask them to teach me differently to help me get to the point that I want to be at.  This is the point in the review where someone tells me that “Art school isn’t meant to teach you how to draw it is there is work on your concept.”  WTF… this is all besides the point though and is another post/rant on my end.  I found this and smiled when I realized how I haven’t changed yet, even with the school telling me that I’m working a “dead art form.”

Maybe I’m just living in the past.  Kandinsky said that “every work of art is the child or its age and, in many cases the mother of our emotions” (Higgins 451).  But if that is true my artwork most be an old Italian man from the Renaissance and unfortunately we are living in the year 2006 where is seems that classical art is few and far between.

So it isn’t that I’m lazy, well I’m sure that that plays apart but it isn’t the whole reason.  I started blogging as a way to make sure that my life didn’t go unnoticed.  I didn’t want people to forget me/ think of me as a question mark/ etc….  It was also a way to get things out of my head.  There is a lot in there and I needed to feel okay if I forgot something.  In short this entire indirect ramble is just me saying I don’t feel invisible anymore.  I know that at least one person cares about what I do and think, and he doesn’t even read this.  (He has the address and everything, he just chooses to learn about me from me… which is pretty nice.)

I’M NOT DEAD!

I was just ponding about the last time that I post and well… it was a while ago.  It’s been crazy on my end.  The school year ended so that means finals, 3rd year reviews, a few competitions, my internship is just starting to pick up speed, MSJ Formal, AAC Boat party, and oh yeah now it is summer so that means work, more internship, and boyfriend time uninterrupted by classes! (Now it is to be interrupted by work XD can’t win!)  I am looking forward to this weekend though, it is Aaron’s birthday and I’ve got a surprise for him that I know he will love.

As a side note I promise to post new pictures of my recent artwork, I just have to get around to color correcting them.  I would also expect the site to change sometime soon… if I say this out loud it is more likely to happen.
